Rui Li 1 Floating Offshore Wind

The Project

Rui Li 1 is a floating offshore wind development project at Hsinchu County. The project has an anticipated capacity of 12 wind turbines (180MW) and will produce enough green electricity for 205,305 Taiwanese households.

With the rapid development of offshore wind energy in the last decade, numerous bottom-fixed offshore wind parks have been built in the Taiwan Strait. Considering the limited space for bottom-fixed wind parks, floating wind is expected become a key next step in Taiwan's energy transition.

Rui Li 1 targets to participate in the Floating Wind Park Demonstration Project in 2025 and is targeting to become one of the first floating offshore wind projects in Taiwan. The goal is to demonstrate the feasibility of floating wind technology in Taiwan and stimulate floating wind as a new pioneering industry for the next generation.

  • Location Hsinchu County
  • Distance to shore 21 kilometers
  • Water depth 70 - 95 meters
  • Anticipated capacity 12 turbines / 180 MW
  • Anticipated COD 2029
  • Energy production 833 GWh / year for 205,305 households
